Born in London, I grew up in the sunny harbour city of Auckland, New Zealand, along with my older sister and younger twin sister. At university I pursued my love of times gone by, graduating with a Masters degree in Ancient History, and then moved into the more modern field of IT technical writing. Currently I live in London, enjoying the urban fizz (but rather missing the better weather). Since childhood a fascination with shiny objects - both in acquiring and creating them - led to jewellery making as a hobby, starting as a teenager when my father taught me how to solder, enamel and use power tools, and continuing in a lifelong learning curve. In 2002 I completed the PMC Certification Course, and am an accredited PMC teacher. My work is a combination of assembled and fabricated pieces, depending on where the creative spirit moves. Antique Greek and Roman fashions remain some of my strongest influences, and as an occasional medieval re-enactor, I'm is also inspired by the colour and vibrancy of the jewellery of the Middle Ages. I also like to try out media and materials not normally associated with jewellery. |
